Reading: Eat That Frog!

Decision Fatigue is the idea that we make a limited number or effective decisions per day, and that our ability to make good quality decisions deteriorates as the day goes on. Old-fashioned office culture encourages the idea that we should all be busy all the time and ignores the fact that our brain will work more effectively with different activities at difference times of the day.

Like most entrepreneurs, employees and, well, working humans, I have been guilty of confusing the fact that I have an ever-growing, never-ending to do list with the idea that I have loads of extremely important things I need to get done. 'Busy-ness' is hard work, but it's not necessarily effective work.

"Successful people don't try to do everything. They learn to focus on the most important tasks and make sure they get done." Brian Tracey

The book 'Eat That Frog!' by Brian Tracey has been recommended to me countless times as a quick but important solution.

Sound familiar? Give it a read.

The blurb:

There's an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing you'll do all day. Using 'eat that frog' as a metaphor for tackling the most challenging task of your day - the one you are most likely to procrastinate on, but also probably the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life - Eat That Frog! shows you how to zero in on these critical tasks and organize your day. You'll not only get more done faster, but get the right things done.
