In HootSuite's 2018 social media report they pointed out that consumers are using social media in a more passive way. We are all guilty of scrolling mindlessly down our Instagram feeds. Just because we don't hit like, doesn't mean a post hasn't impacted our purchase decision or our opinion of the brand. Likes are still important but they're a less accurate measurement of how effective your post is. This year we have found that sharing video is a much more effective way of measuring impact as we can see how many views it has. Movement also seems to stand out more.
